Amazing kitchen knife March 4, 2010 KK Purchased the pink-handle knife on behalf of a survivor of breast cancer. It is a great kitchen tool; lightweight and precision slicer.
I cut the cheese! (with my favorite knife) January 10, 2010 K. Aaland (Sunny Southern California) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been seduced by my knife. It's lightweight and conforms so naturally to my hand. This baby slides right through tomato and peach skin. (although I also have a ceramic tomato slicing knife that I love too) I love that I cut through cheese, brownies, and fudge this holiday season without "sticking". I have quite a few good knives (Cutco, Wusthoff) but I love the Kyocera ceramic knives so much that I gave them out for gifts to all my girlfriends. Besides, every girl should have a pink knife, right? I put mine in the dishwasher which is something you shouldn't do with most other good knives. PS, my son is a chef who uses those very expensive Japanese carbon steel beauties and he approves of these too. (I get mine at Homegoods/TJ Maxx/Tuesday Morning for lots less.)
Love It! January 4, 2010 Amie McIntire I have two of these knives which I bought in Japan over three years ago. My family uses them constantly. My father recently sharpened the other knives we used to use as a surprise while we were away. After weeks of being back and not noticing, he finally told us what he had done. We just don't use those other knives anymore! So I used a freshly sharpened one and it was really difficult after having used my ceramic knives for so long. I will never use anything but ceramic again! They slice so effortlessly, it is like they are gliding through veggies and fruits. Everytime a friend tries one of ours they immediately get themselves one and are amazed at how simple cutting can be with the correct knife. At first I babied them because I was nervous I'd chip or break it. After a while I realized they are pretty tough. I've dropped them on the ceramic tile floor and nothing happened. I just packed my knives up to send them off to get sharpened and I'm bummed! I hope it doesn't take long to get them back because they will be sorely missed! The resharpening is free, but you pay shipping there and also send $10 for them to ship them back. First time we will sharpen in 3 years. They are still sharper than our other knives by far, but they just aren't as sharp as they used to be, so sending them in. Expensive, but definitely worth it if you can afford it. Oh, and these knives aren't meant to be used to cut through bones, fruit pits or anything else where the knife needs to be flexible and they aren't supposed to go in the dishwasher.
Awesome Knife! October 12, 2009 Lewis Vyrostek (Iowa) My wife loves this knife! It is used almost twice a day and performs "extra Duty" on the weekends, helping prepare all sorts of good things to eat!It has a very sharp blade that lasts. My wife used to cut her fingers when using her old steel knives. Now, she cuts exactly the way she wants to, without any effort at all (and no injuries!). This knife makes prep work in the kitchen fast and easy. I also bought her a Kyocera paring knife for Christmas - she already pulled it out and said she could't wait till then!!
This past Sunday we cleaned, cut and prepped 16 bags of apple slices for pies in less than an hour and a half using a applepeeler and the paring knife. These knives are a "must" for the kitchen.
my best knife July 22, 2008 Frances H. Carroll (TOMS RIVER, NJ United States) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This is by far my best knife, and I have all the Great German brands. Everyone entering my kitchen, picks it up and want to own one. Outstanding
