All kitchen and sporting knives, whether professional quality or inexpensive, need a blade tune-up now and then. This electric sharpener produces razor-sharp edges using the same rapidly rotating Sapphirite grinding wheels used by professional shops. A two-stage system allows knives to be ground and sharpened on the Stage 1 half of the machine, and then honed on the Stage 2 half. Blade guides hold the knife at the ideal sharpening angle for each side of the blade, as it is drawn slowly towards the user and kept parallel to the countertop. The sharpener is suitable for knives made of alloy, carbon, or stainless steel; it is perfectly normal for sparks to fly when knives of high carbon steel come in contact with the Sapphirite wheels. Non-electric serrated knives that are only serrated on one side can also be sharpened with this machine. Three suction cups on the bottom hold the sharpener securely on a table or countertop, and two receptacles underneath catch metal filings for disposal. The sharpener measures 8-1/4 by 5-3/4 by 4 inches, and is covered by a two-year warranty against defects. --Ann Bieri

This sharpener works much better than I expected it to. I have knives that were very dull and all it took was a few passes ion order to sharpen them right up. I am very pleased with the product. In addition, the package arrived a couple of days before I actually expected it to arrive.

I chose the Presto Knife Sharpener based on the numerous 5 star reviews ... well, here's another!
The 2-stage system does exactly what is described in the 'Product Details' ... it sharpens, then hones knife blades.
Three slow (3 seconds) passes on the sharpening side followed by three quick (1 second) passes on the honing side is all it takes. I sharpened my kitchen knives in seconds ... literally!
Here's a tip from Presto ... to keep your knives sharp at all times, simply hone the knife blades after each use. It works!
At 3 pounds, the Presto Pro EverSharp Electric Knife Sharpener has a sturdy feel and sleek modern look. The underside of the knife sharpener is equipped with suction pads to keep the unit steady while sharpening.
For those who dislike reading instructions, the sharpening side is labelled '1' and the honing side '2'. It's that easy to use!
At the base of the Knife Sharpener , there are two collection chambers for the blade filings (from sharpening and honing). This is emptied by simply unplugging two plastic plugs. According to the manufacturer, we need to do this only once a year ... I love jobs like that! :)

I love this machine! It's very easy for anyone to use and does an excellent job. I purchased it for my parents and they quickly figured out how to use it and now use it everyday.
