Product Description
FireOne Butane Lighters feature a wind-resisting catalizer coil that keeps your lighter burning, even in harsh winds. A ceramic flame window glows while in use, letting you know that the nearly-invisible, 2,000 degree flame is burning strong. The flame height is fully adjustable, and a built-in fuel gauge lets you know how much gas you have left. Easily refillable with premium butane fuel. Carries a limited one year warranty from date of purchase.

I killed 2 of these in 6 months....no better than any other refillable butane lighter.

2 out of 5 stars A Dissapointment   June 2, 2010

Alright, so I've read some of the other reviews and will admit that I didn't read the instructions, but to me a lighter should just "light". That's why we call it a lighter, isn't it?

I've had mine for about half a year now, and I have to say I just don't trust it. Too finicky. I do have some good things to say about it, so let's get that out of the way first.

I liked the construction, generally. Granted it's not made from uranium-reinforced titanium or anything, but for the price I'd give it high marks for durability and can report that despite a daily rough ride in my pocket there are only minor signs of wear.

When it lights, it does exhibit a hint of wind-proofedness, although I doubt it would live up to the manufacturer's claims of 60MPH or whatever it was.

When camping it's handy not to have to worry too much about getting it wet, and the "shiny" parts offer just enough reflectivity to find it in the dark without getting a search team involved.

So that's it for the good, and now the bad.

It's really hard to get it to light. I know I already said that, and I know that the instructions are supposed to make it better, and I know that it's fairly cheap for what it is, but despite all those things if I had to choose one thing for a lighter to be good at, it would be lighting. This one just isn't.

I also have to join in with the other reviewers who've pointed out that the button gets very hot very quickly, so using this to light a campfire might be painful (unless you prepare and build a really good fire, but that's not the subject here).

So there you are. In retrospect I wouldn't buy the same one again, but I am still glad I have it because it is still much better than a bic lighter or nothing at all for outdoor use.

4 out of 5 stars Hasn't burned itself up yet   March 16, 2010

Most refillables burn their valves out faster than anything else it seems. This one has lasted longer so far with no real indication of damage. It seems it has some sort of heat sink around the valve. The only downsides are that the flame strength changes a lot depending on the amount of gas in the lighter, the adjustment range is fairly small, and it doesn't hold much gas.

5 out of 5 stars Exactly what I was looking for   February 1, 2010

This lighter is perfect. Love the flip open cover and the clear body so you can see the butane level. Lites first time every time. Works perfectly while walking or windy outside. One of my coworkers even asked me to get her this in blue. Great little lighter especially for the price.

2 out of 5 stars Poor Quality for the Price   January 20, 2010

The price is high for this cheap lighter. It rarely lights on the first click and I found it difficult to fill up. The waterproofing appears durable but I have not tested this yet. It lights in moderate wind but not did not stay lit in stronger winds. Don't count on this as reliable in the toughest conditions.
